Denim Zoom Quilt

I have a basket of jeans that are the wrong size. I also have a giant blank space behind where I sit for Zoom calls. So to manage my big feelings in the month before the 2020 Presidential election, I made this quilt. It used up some of the cast-off denim, created a more personal and beautiful Zoom backdrop, and gave me a way to deal with anxiety and anger. Fun fact about sewing with denim: it creates very thick seams which can be flattened by hitting with a rubber mallet. The whole process took me from “Argh!!” to  “Ahhhh….”

Image shows a full quilt made of triangles that are different shades of dlue denim and tan khakis. The outer edge is bound in a dusty red, and the quilt is covered in ochre yellow yarn ties. Woman holding the quilt is wearing jeans that are artistically mended at both knees.

Image is a close up of one corner of the back of the quilt. The backing is made of tan linen, and there is a brown label with yellow stitching. The stitching reads "Zoe Gladstone, November 2020, count every vote'.
