This quilt is made from dozens of vintage and threadbare Levi’s work shirts and two thrifted bedsheets. It is sewn in a traditional ‘spiderweb’ design. The shirts were given to me by a family that my family loves. As we sat in their living room and sifted through the shirts, the parents pointed out which shirt the dad was wearing when each of their children was born. I made a note of which shirt went with which kid, and when the quilt was finished, I embroidered each kids’ name on a patchworked piece of their ‘birthday’ shirt.
