Making this memorial quilt for Rebecca out of her mom’s clothing was a very tender experience. Rebecca is my friend and a wonderful grief companion. She will never offer you a platitude and deeply understands all the weird forms that grieving can take. She appreciates how memorial quilts can gently hold your big feelings about the person who has passed.
Her mom Dottie was a lovely, generous woman who had a lot of good ideas and a very stylish way of making them happen. She delighted in the natural world and I think she would have been pleased by the vibrant greens in this quilt photo. Spring was really springing when I dashed out during a break in the rain to take this shot.
