Discarded Denim

If you’re a person with a body, it changes over time, and you end up with clothing in your closet that doesn’t fit. I have a Denim Box where I keep my discarded and outgrown jeans. Sometimes I pull out the box, cut up the jeans, and sew an improvisational patchwork.

In the case of this quilt, I pulled out the jeans, cut  them, and sewed a quilt top. Then I got tired. I left the quilt top in a strange, irregular shape and shoved it into my Weirdo Box (where I let half-finished projects hibernate).

A few years later, I took and it out and surprise! It looked a lot more beautiful. I finished up the quilt, intuitively stitching it with random leftover threads. She’s gorgeous, she’s odd, she’s soft.
